Service Description

– A Cultural Craft Experience in Kanazawa Immerse yourself in the refined world of Japanese bamboo craftsmanship through this guided workshop led by Saori Hashimoto, a bamboo artist dedicated to preserving one of Ishikawa’s rare traditional arts. Held in a beautifully restored townhouse near central Kanazawa, the experience offers participants the opportunity to learn bamboo basket weaving—a skill deeply rooted in the region’s tea ceremony culture since the Edo period. Japanese bamboo craft typically utilizes only the outermost layers of the bamboo, where the fibers are densest and most durable. These layers possess a natural luster and strength ideal for fine craftsmanship, while the softer inner portions are usually removed. Authentic bamboo works are not only elegant but also long-lasting, with the possibility of repair and continued use over generations.
