About Miyazaki Kanchi
The Miyazaki Kanchi family traces its origins to Noto Province, a region long renowned for its skilled metal casters. In 1652, Fujiwara Tomonori Miyazaki Hikokuro Yoshitsuna was invited to Kanazawa by Maeda Toshitsune, the third lord of the Kaga Domain, where he established a workshop near Kanazawa Castle.

Over time, the family developed a close connection with Japanese tea culture. Influenced by Sen Sōshitsu IV of the Urasenke school of tea, they began crafting tea kettles for tea masters and distinguished patrons. It was during this period that the first Miyazaki Kanchi was granted the studio name Kanchian, earning recognition as a master kettle maker serving the tea culture of Kaga.

Throughout the centuries, the family has produced an extraordinary range of cast metal works, including tea kettles, temple bells, Buddhist ritual objects, and other ceremonial pieces. Among their most celebrated creations are the Fukujukai-gama and Shioya-gama tea kettles, as well as the bell of Myōshin-ji Temple in Kanazawa, cast in 1677 and preserved to this day.Now in its 15th generation, the Miyazaki Kanchi family continues this remarkable legacy, preserving more than 360 years of craftsmanship. Each tea kettle created today reflects the enduring spirit of the Japanese tea ceremony and the refined aesthetic traditions that have made Kanazawa one of Japan's great centers of traditional craftsmanship.
