Tour Overview

― Cycle Through Kanazawa’s Timeless Water Fortress ―

Step into the timeless charm of Kanazawa, once the flourishing seat of the Maeda clan. On this guided cycling journey, you’ll discover how water was more than a resource—it was the lifeblood of the city, shaping its architecture, defense, and way of life.

Glide past the formidable stone walls and sweeping moats of Kanazawa Castle, through the atmospheric samurai residences of Nagamachi, and along the tranquil canals nourished by the Saigawa and Asanogawa rivers. Every stop opens a window into the city’s ingenious design, where waterways were never just for defense or irrigation—they shaped daily life and created a city where practicality and beauty flowed hand in hand.

Led by an expert local guide, this tour reveals how Kanazawa’s people transformed water into both strength and beauty. It is more than sightseeing—it is a journey into the soul of Kanazawa, a city that thrived by mastering its environment, where the rhythms of the past still flow through every street and tradition lives on in the present.
