Tour Overview
Run Kanazawa Like a Local. Not Just Sightseeing- Live the City Through Running
This running tour begins at the iconic Kōmon Gate of Kanazawa Station. Guided by local runners, the route weaves through historic landmarks and the everyday streets where people actually live. Rather than rushing through tourist spots, you proceed at the city's own pace. The tranquil flow of the Saigawa River, the morning light filtering through Higashi Chaya District, the greenery around Kenroku-en Garden, the unassuming sounds of daily life in residential areas just waking up—each of these moments reveals the true character of Kanazawa. Distances range from 5km to 20km, flexibly customised to suit your pace, fitness level, and preferences. Perfect for serious runners, or simply those wanting a pleasant morning run while travelling. Discover a new side of Kanazawa at your own pace.
Run Beyond Sightseeing
There are sights you simply won't see from a sightseeing bus or on foot. The crisp air along the river in the early morning, the quiet sounds of residential neighbourhoods, the paths locals run as part of their daily routine. This running tour aims not just to “visit” Kanazawa, but to create memories as if you were living in the city. In a place with different words and culture, running naturally breaks down barriers, revealing sights you might never reach alone. Runners connect beyond language. Simply matching breaths at the same pace brings you closer. This experience guides you along routes local runners actually use, starting and finishing at Kanazawa Station and the Drum Gate. It's not a race about speed. What matters is feeling the city's rhythm. Let's enjoy the run together at a pace that suits you. After the run, we'll take you to a café near Kanazawa Station. Sipping a drink with a distinct Kanazawa flavour while reflecting on the route you've just covered is also part of this experience. For those who wish to maintain their running habit while travelling. For those who find sightseeing alone insufficient. And for those who wish to add another “home town” somewhere in the world.
Yuka Suzumori (Tour guide)
She is a licensed local guide based in Kanazawa, known for her deep knowledge of the city’s history, culture, and everyday life. With years of guiding experience, she brings Kanazawa’s stories to life in a way that is both informative and personal. She also brings a unique perspective shaped by her time studying abroad in Toronto. Living in Canada allowed her to experience firsthand how meaningful cultural exchange can be — and how small, everyday moments often create the strongest memories. That experience continues to influence the way she welcomes international visitors today. In addition to her guiding work, she had been involved in the local craft beer scene, giving her insight into Kanazawa’s contemporary culture and creative community. Through craft beer, she connects guests not only to tradition, but also to the city’s evolving, modern spirit. Rather than simply explaining landmarks, she focuses on helping guests understand the spirit of the city — how history connects to modern life, how traditions continue today, and how local people shape Kanazawa’s identity. Her tours are engaging, thoughtful, and tailored to the interests and pace of each group.
