Cycling Along the Tedori River

The day begins at Tsurugi Station, where your guide will help with bicycle fitting and explain how to use the electric-assist controls. After a safety briefing and a short practice period, the group begins cycling through the Tsurugi area and toward the Tedori River. The river originates in the Hakusan mountain range and flows across Ishikawa Prefecture toward the Sea of Japan. It has helped shape the landscape, agriculture and communities of the region for generations. As you cycle, your guide will explain the relationship between the river and local industries such as rice cultivation, sake brewing and food production. The riverside route passes through seasonal rice fields and quiet residential areas. Depending on the time of year, the landscape may include newly planted rice fields reflecting the sky, bright green summer fields or golden crops ready for the autumn harvest. Cycling through these areas provides a glimpse of everyday rural life and shows how local communities continue to live in close connection with the surrounding environment.

Journey Through the Hakusan Countryside

The full-day route continues farther into the countryside than the half-day tour. Electric assistance reduces the effort required on longer stretches and hills, but participants will still be active for several hours. The guide will select suitable assistance settings and adjust the pace where timing and safety allow. The route may pass through small communities, agricultural areas and wooded landscapes. Unlike central Kanazawa, where attractions are concentrated within a relatively small area, Hakusan offers a more spacious and peaceful environment. This part of the tour is not focused on checking off famous landmarks. Instead, it provides time to observe the landscape, understand how people live in the region and experience the changing relationship between villages, farmland, rivers and mountains. Short breaks can be taken where appropriate, although the exact locations depend on the route, weather and group pace.

Cycle to Watagataki Waterfall in Hakusan

Watagataki Waterfall is one of the natural highlights of the full-day tour. Surrounded by greenery and rock formations, the waterfall demonstrates the force of the water flowing through the Hakusan area. The sound of the water and the surrounding landscape create a dramatic contrast with the quiet agricultural scenery experienced earlier in the day. The appearance of the waterfall changes according to rainfall, water levels and the season. After rain, the flow may be particularly powerful, while drier periods can create a calmer atmosphere. Your guide will provide information about the natural environment and explain the importance of mountain water to the region. Access to specific viewpoints and the amount of time spent at the waterfall may change depending on path conditions, water levels and weather. Safety will always take priority over the published itinerary.

Enjoy a Seasonal Local Lunch

A seasonal lunch at a local restaurant is included in the tour price. The meal provides an opportunity to rest during the cycling route and experience ingredients or dishes associated with the Hakusan area. The restaurant and menu may change depending on the day, season and local availability. Rather than offering a standardized tourist menu, the lunch is intended to reflect the character of the region wherever possible. Vegetarian meals may be arranged with advance notice. Guests with food allergies, religious requirements or other dietary restrictions must provide detailed information when booking. We will try to select an appropriate restaurant, but complete accommodation cannot always be guaranteed because local kitchens, ingredients and preparation methods vary. Is the Full-Day Tour Suitable for Beginners?

Electric-assist bicycles reduce the effort required when cycling uphill or over longer distances. However, the full-day route is longer and more physically demanding than the half-day tour. Participants will spend several hours outdoors and must be comfortable riding a bicycle on public roads. The route may include flat roads, hills, countryside paths and sections shared with cars and local residents. All participants riding independently must be able to balance, steer, brake and react safely to changing road conditions. Previous experience using an e-bike is not required. Before departure, the guide will explain the controls, help adjust the bicycle and allow time for practice.
